Cody grew up in the Texas Panhandle. Upon graduation from Claude High School in 2006, Cody enlisted in the United States Army and was deployed to Iraq where he served 4 years before being honorably discharged.

Cody then attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor where he graduated with a degree in Economics. After graduation he became a licensed Insurance Adjuster. Since his return to the Panhandle, Cody has worked in roofing and construction for five of the last ten years.

Cody and his wife Abby live in Amarillo. They are members of Central Church of Christ and enjoy volunteering in the communities where they live and work.
